Room 04 of 06 · distant thunder, adjustable
Storm shelter, lofi for sleeping
For people who sleep better with weather: heavy rain, wind and soft, distant thunder over slow, sheltered lofi. The thunder rolls, and you can switch it off.
About this rain
Some people find a far-off storm the coziest sound of all. This room is for them: heavier rain, low wind and a slow, rolling thunder that comes only now and then, at random, about once a minute or two.
The thunder in the mixer is one real, recorded distant roll, played exactly as it was recorded. If a rumble ever wakes you, turn the Thunder slider to zero and keep the rain. The other five rooms have no thunder at all.
The music is the calm end of Eye of the Storm, Sands of Time and Sea of Stars 2: shelters, lighthouses and quiet harbours.

Quick answers
Is the thunder loud?
It is a distant, rolling recording played at a low level, and you control the level with a slider. It is off in every other room.
Is this safe for kids or pets?
Keep any sleep sound at a low level and away from a baby’s cot. If a child or pet is sensitive to thunder, pick a thunder-free room.
Is it real thunder?
Yes. It is an 18 second cut of a field recording of thunder over a lake (credited on the about page), played as recorded, with no filtering or boosting. The roll plays at random moments, only now and then. It is meant to be a gentle storm.
